Jamie Breyfogle ’21 – SIT Valparaíso, Chile

Hi all! My name is Jamie and I’m a junior at Hope. I’m an International Studies, Spanish, and Philosophy triple major. I’ve spent most of my life in central Pennsylvania, but for the next four(ish) months I’ll be in Valparaíso, Chile! I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to participate in the SIT: Cultural Identity, Social Justice, and Community Development program! I’m really looking forward to immersing myself in a completely different culture, trying lots of new food, meeting a ton of new people, and polishing my Spanish skills.

At Hope I’m a proud tour guide, Mellon Scholar, Phelps Scholars alumna, ’21 Song Girl, and research assistant in the Spanish department. Other than that, I love traveling and exploring new places (of course!), in addition to swimming, hiking, and pretty much any other outdoor activity. I’m excited that I’m going to be in a city that’s right on the ocean, but also so close to the mountains!
