Family Time

It was a good week. My family came to visit me over the weekend on their spring break, and it was the first time I got to see them in awhile. One of the hardest things for me to adjust to since moving to the city has been not seeing my family everyday, so it was nice to be able to spend a few days with them. I was afraid that by not seeing them our relationship would weaken, and I think that the opposite has actually occurred. The distance has forced me to call my sister and parents more, and as a result we are having more conversations about things that we normally wouldn’t if I was home.

A new food place I have to recommend is Big Bowl. It is a Chinese/Thai restaurant right near the mag mile of Chicago, and it has amazing dishes. One thing that I really liked about this place was how big the portions were for the price, and you can easily make an entrée last for two meals. They also make amazing strawberry margaritas there, and my mom and I were both happy to split a pitcher of one together.

Finally, I strongly recommend taking walks at night anytime you find yourself in a city. The views are always so beautiful, and everything always seems so calm unlike the day time. I wish I could have been living in the city when it’s warm, as I know that these walks would be even more fun. My favorite place to walk is from my apartment to Navy Pier on the water, and sometimes I even venture the other way as it presents a beautiful view of the city (photo below). That’s about all I have to say about this past week, but I am very excited to see how this next week goes. I will be coming home to Michigan for my sorority formal, and I also will get to see more of my family for an early Easter. Until then!
