A little over 10 days have passed since I came to Ireland and here are three things I need to admit :
1. I have NOT been caught in the rain
2. I have spent SO MUCH money already
3. My steps have been trending higher everyday ever since I got here
1. I have NOT been caught in the rain
Weeks ago, someone warned me that Dublin was going to be rainy everyday, so I purchased a pair of rain boots. But guess what! Not once have I gotten rained on yet! My newly bought hunter boots might be sad to quietly sit in the corner of my closet, but I am not complaining. I have been taking advantage of the sunny weather to explore the city despite the 8pm curfew (one of Ireland’s COVID-19 regulations as of January 19th).
2. I have spent SO MUCH money already
During the first week, I ate out Every Single Day. Not just once. But TWICE. If I felt fancy, I would even add a trip to a gelato store or a coffee shop. In Dublin, there are a lot of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, donut stores, etc. so it is hard to resist the temptation to try out everything. This week I started cooking for myself, so my bank account is happier since groceries here are insanely cheap compared to the US.
3. My steps have been trending higher ever since I got here
Dublin is extremely walkable. It reminds me of my home country, Japan, because just like Japan, Dublin has good sidewalks and affordable public transportation options. My iPhone app told me that I was walking about 15,000 steps on average and I feel much healthier despite my unhealthy habit of eating out all the time.
