A city like London will present oneself with a handful of options to fill up one’s day. Every possible source of entertainment can be found within the 38 boroughs that make up this city. Finding your niche can be one of the most pleasurable ways to have that cherry on top feeling to the novelty of it all. That moment when you’ve come to see or explore those bucket list items re-establishes the excitement that filled your body before you departed. For me, I have found this excitement especially through some of the things I love most: beautiful scenery, hikes, monumental places, plays, musicals, and sporting events (specifically, fútbol)!
During my time here, I have been able to check all of my top must-sees off my list. A specific moment that left me a little star-struck was being amongst the 80,000 people that filled Wembley Stadium on a Friday night to see the national team play. As I’ve grown up playing fútbol all my life, it has been a treat being immersed in an area where fútbol is basically worshipped. Games are broadcasted daily in pubs, jerseys from the multiple premier league teams fill the streets, chanting of victory songs are heard every night in train stations, and the feeling of the world’s game is around every corner. The game I went to was vs. Albania and was also a world-cup qualifying match which added on to the overall atmosphere of the event.
As I look back on everything I’ve done during my 4 months over here, this game is definitely on the top of my list! Thankful that I have lived in a place that appreciates the beautiful game as much as I do 🙂
