Valentines Day: Where Generations Embrace Celebration.

Since being in college I have learned to appreciate and cherish going out to eat. I now miss the days of going out to eat with my family and having my parents pay. Every now and then I get the chance to eat outside of Phelps dining hall and experience some of Holland’s excellent restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount, variety, and quality of dining options in Holland. Even though Holland is a small town it still offers plenty of restaurants. Of course it has some of the typical chain restaurants like Jonny Carino’s, Applebees, IHOP, Logan’s, and Panera. However my favorite restaurants are the local ones here. The CityVu is one of my favorite places to eat. It is located on the top floor of the City Flats Hotel. The food tastes delicious and offers an elegant dining environment. I spent Valentines dinner at the CityVu on a double date with Matthias, Grace, and Bob. The four of us enjoyed a nice evening together overlooking downtown Holland from the restaurant. My favorite item to order from there is the Chicago flatbread; they prepare delicious flatbreads from their brick oven.

I enjoyed dining at the CityVu and am looking forward to returning there soon in the future. The rest of my Valentines Day turned out very well. I walked into my room from Florida and there were beautiful flowers, a hot pink fanny back with a bag of pretzel M&Ms inside (the fanny pack is for running), a tin filled with heart shaped cookies, two cases of Perrier, and a card on my desk waiting for my arrival. My boyfriend made me feel very special on Valentines Day. We hung out for a while together on Valentines Day then the day after we ate with Bob and Grace at CityVu.

Hopefully I’ll be able to take my parents to CityVu when they come help move me out in May. I think they would enjoy the food, and I also love eating a free meal with them =]

Hope you all have great weeks!
