The feeling of truly being seen, loved, and accepted has been my favorite journey through Hope College. Mariah Dingman and Mia Van Erp have shown me through any phase and any season, there will always be people in your corner cheering you on. They have shown me unconditional love and have never made me laugh more than I have when I am with them. I am so thankful for these two beautiful people in my life.

Choosing my favorite Hope memory is incredibly difficult. However, far and above, Even Year Pull stands out as the most influential part of my Hope College experience. There is truly nothing else like it. I came into college alone and was so grateful to find a family through this incredible yet strange tradition. I had the honor to become a coach in my junior and senior years, getting to lead the most wonderful teams alongside my best friends. Even Year Pull taught me there’s so much to be gained from every experience, even if it never goes quite the way you planned. Over my four years, the Pull taught me the value of perseverance, teamwork, and respect, and I will carry those lessons with me forever.

One of my favorite experiences was being a part of the all-men’s acapella group, 12th Street Harmony. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to perform with such a talented group of cool dudes. I was able to connect with upperclassmen my freshman year and underclassmen my junior and senior year through this group, which is one of the reasons why it was so special. The combination of gaining mentors while also being able to reach out to younger students was a great gift.

Of the countless memories that I cherish one that stands out was the Inauguration of President Scogin. I had the opportunity to partake in many of the days festivities including presenting gifts to the family on behalf of all Hope students. It was such an exciting day to watch the Hope community come together from all different parts of the world to share their commitment to a place I love so much. On that day I felt lucky to be a part of an institution in which God’s handiwork is so vibrantly shown. Not to mention, a surreal ceremony that no many have the opportunity to be a part of.
