Construction is now complete on the dark room in the Microwave Lab. This room will be used for two purposes. The hood in the back is used for circuit board photolithography. In the foreground, T.J. Klein is measuring the breakdown electric field of a plasma in a small gap. T.J.’s research is part of an on-going development aimed at understanding how small devices fail when operated at high microwave power. The photolithography facility serves the needs of any researchers at Hope College. The first user scheduled for the new photolithography facility is Prof. Brian Yurk in the Math Department. Prof. Yurk has designed a circuit to collect data for his mathematical modeling of the effects of climate change on insect behavior.
