The Culture Action Team extends our deep appreciation to the many teams that make up our Physical Plant Staff. The Maintenance Team, The Custodial Team, The Grounds Team, The Project Team and the Physical Plant Office Staff are truly an amazing group of people who are the very essential core of the Hope College community.
The maintenance team is made up of professionals in the construction industry including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics, painters, and HVAC specialists. This group works year-round (as well as through campus shut-down) to ensure all equipment is performing at optimal levels while maintaining all building integrity for the comfort and safety of our community.
The custodial team are some of the hardest working individuals on Hope’s campus, putting in long, hard, and physically demanding hours to ensure that campus spaces are clean and functional. These teams work to set-up and clean-up before and after meetings and events, they monitor and maintain furniture and fixture functionality, they recycle and take care of snow removal near the entrances to the buildings.
The grounds team is responsible for maintaining the beauty of our campus by planting flowers, mowing the lawns, taking care of our trees in the summer and keeping the walkways clear of snow and ice during the winter.
The project team along with the Director of Operations have been involved in campus space planning and sustainability efforts, among other coordination and planning activities that allow the entire department to run efficiently.
The Physical Plant office staff keeps every one of these teams organized and responds to requests from the campus community for services and supplies that are needed across the campus, coordinating services to keep operations running smoothly.
This group is an amazing group of individuals who often do not receive the recognition they deserve on a daily basis. We would hate to think of what our campus would be like without the hard work of our entire Physical Plant Staff!
