Butterbeer brings all the cheer!

As break has ended, I find myself constantly going back to the many things I did. Most of my family lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so we made a little trip to Engadine, Mi, not far from the shores of Lake Michigan. While there, we were able to catch up with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from Northern Michigan and visitors from the South. It’s always nice to see familiar faces, especially after meeting many new faces in Holland.

Later in the week, my friend currently attending U of M, Talia, called and asked if I’d like to join her family in their Harry Potter Marathon. They decided to watch EVERY movie with a marathon from 6:30AM to 2:30AM. Stipulations included no credits and no previews!

I was able to join them for movies 4-6. During the show, we made butterbeer to accompany our popcorn. Although we initially had a recipe, including cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter, brown sugar, vanilla ice cream and club soda, we mostly threw in a lot of delicious sugary things and have since revised our methods of preparation for next time. Needless-to-say, the butterbeer was DELICIOUS and although we probably consumed an entire stick of butter (that wasn’t entirely mixed into the (ice cream), it was very creamy and added the perfect beverage to our already very-Harry-Potter festive atmosphere.

Butterbeer!

By January 4th, my sister was back in school and the majority of my friends from Traverse City were already back to college as well. Because we didn’t start at Hope until the 10th, I was caught up at home with absolutely no commitments. I decided to sit down and “manufacture” a few nifty little headbands to wear around Hope for the coming winter season (if it ever comes). I even lined them with black fleece so they wouldn’t be so itchy on your forehead.

  1. I have always wanted to do a Harry Potter marathon but could never find any one willing to watch them with me =(. But I like the idea of having HP food with the movie so that might get some people off the fence =D. By the way I love your headband. I recently started knitting (Can only do scarves right now) but I cannot wait until I learn how to make fun things like that!

  2. Sarah! Wow! I know how to knit, but I like to crochet a bit more. 😉
