Macie Muntter ’23 – Chicago Semester

Hi Everyone! Greetings from across the lake!

My name is Macie Muntter and I am a junior at Hope studying Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice as well as Biology. I am originally from Jenison, MI, but I consider Holland to be more of my home. Both of my parents went to Hope, and so we have another home just a few blocks away from campus where I spend most of my time when not in school. I will be spending the upcoming Spring semester in Chicago, IL, doing an internship at Uptown People’s Law Center and I am super excited for the opportunity. My internship placement will specifically deal with prison rights and dealing with unconstitutional prison conditions, which is something that I have always been interested in.

I am looking forward to this opportunity of getting out of my comfort zone and being away from my family and friends for the first time, as well as experiencing everything the city has to offer. Particularly, I am really excited about trying lots of new food, endless shopping opportunities, experiencing a faster pace of life, and making new friends.

I can’t wait to see all of the personal and professional growth that I will experience throughout this next semester, and I invite you to join me on this journey!
