Hannah Tegtmeyer ’22 – IES Vienna, Austria

Welcome to my blog 🙂

I’m a senior at Hope this year studying Psychology and Kinesiology. I’ve been wanting, and trying (darn pandemic), to study abroad for quite some time so I’m stoked to finally be able to go. I will be finishing up my degree in Vienna, Austria this spring. I’m originally from the Chicago area, so I’m familiar with the big city feel and can’t wait to share all of the similarities and differences with you.

While at Hope, I’ve done a little bit of everything! I was involved in research, became a mentee for incoming freshmen, was a member of Student Congress, and even started my own club to advocate for invisible health conditions and disabilities. Shameless plug for Hope Advocates for Invisible Conditions (HAIC). I get to transfer some of these passions over to Vienna, where I will have a public service internship.

I’d be lying if I didn’t share that the number one thing I’m looking forward to is meeting all of the dogs of Austria because that’s just who I am. (Stay tuned for pictures) Also tied for first is immersing myself in the language, experiencing the beautiful architecture, and of course learning about a completely new culture. I’m so excited to share my experiences with you!

Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye for now)
