AnnaLeah Lacoss ’25 – SIT Amman, Jordan

Hi! I’m AnnaLeah, and I’m so excited to be blogging while I’m abroad this semester! I’m an English major minoring in Peace and Justice Studies. I will be traveling to Amman, Jordan with SIT’s program in Geopolitics, International Relations, and the Future of the Middle East. I’ve never been abroad before—in fact, Hope was the farthest away from my home in Connecticut that I’ve ever lived! I’m super grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to share it with all of you.

On Hope’s campus, I work at the writing center, am involved in Hope Forward, participated in the Phelps Scholars Program, and play viola in orchestra! When I’m not busy, you can usually find me walking by the lake or curled up with a cup of tea and a book. I’m a bit of a homebody, so traveling so far away from my friends and family will be a great growth opportunity for me.

I transferred into SIT’s Jordan program late because the program I initially planned on attending was cancelled unexpectedly. While Jordan was not initially on my radar, I am so grateful to have been offered the opportunity to attend this program. During this semester, I hope to learn more about conflict resolution and pathways to sustainable peace in the Middle East, as well as experience the beautiful and rich culture in Jordan. Thanks for journeying with me!
