This week, the CWR sponsors workshops on the citation system often used in the humanities, usually known as “Chicago” or “Turabian.” Come to the Rare Book Room on Thursday (Feb 2) at 3:30, or on Friday (Feb 3) at 2:00, and learn the basics in an hour.
Did you know that the CWR has a Twitter feed? OK, only a tiny one, but this semester we’re offering something every week — usually a tip on a great resource for improving your writing. Click here to follow us!
Spring Semester has begun, and the CWR is open for business. Make an appointment or drop by anytime — we’re now open 10 to 10 on Mondays through Thursdays, as well as 1-10 on Sundays.
We know that things get busier at the end of the semester, so the CWR will be open for a few hours on Friday and Saturday this week: Friday from 11 until 6 and Saturday from 10 until noon. Service will be limited, so it’s still best to make an appointment.
The CWR is hosting a workshop on Writing the Graduate School Essay. It will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 11:00-12:00 and repeated on Wednesday, November 9 at 3:30-4:30. If you’d like to participate, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know which day you plan to attend.
Our Writing Assistants have been phenomenally busy offering help-sessions this week. With midterms coming up, you’ll start seeing even more traffic-jams in the CWR. While walk-ins are always welcome, you can avoid waiting in line by signing up for a specific time slot. Call x7904 or click on the “Make an appointment” link at the right.

The Center for Writing and Research is officially open for business. Writing Assistants are available from 1pm-10pm on Sunday and 11am-10pm on Monday through Thursday. Make an appointment, or just drop in.
Welcome to the Center for Writing and Research! This new Hope College service is an extension and expansion of the Writing Corner, which began last year under the leadership of Dr. David Klooster. Please stop by Van Wylen Library and have a look at our redesigned space, just to the right of the Research Help Desk.
